| There is a beautiful Indian story about a man, his son and a horse. |
| |
| There was a man called Gautama, who lived in a village of ancient India. He was a humble with humble lifestyle. Not much to earn, not much to spend. His life depended on a small piece of land on which he used take seasonal crops. People used to pity Gautama, as he was the only one in the entire village who had no cattle and no horse or any other animal to posses. His best friend Surya had a better life style. Whenever Surya met Gautama, he told him that it is so bad that his best friend is so poor. Gautama always said – please do not say it is bad, as we do not know what is really good or bad. One day, when he was moving through a jungle with his son, Gautama found a horse, it looked as if the horse was divine because he had never seen such a beautiful horse, not even in the king possessed such a beautiful horse. He took the horse with him to his village. People were amazed to see such a horse. One day Surya came and told him, you are so lucky, look how good it is that you found this horse. Gautama’s reply was same – please do not say what happened is good, as we do not know what is really good or bad.
The king came to know about the beauty of horse and asked Gautama to give away the horse or he would be killed. He denied, saying he is ready to get killed, but wont give away. Surya told him – how bad it is that the horse brought a threat to his life. Gautama stood by his response – who knows if it is good or bad. |
