In the extreme west end of India there is a small desert called the Desert of Kutchh. A man stood at the beginning of the desert. From the people who had already been through this desert, this man heard of a beautiful lake surrounded by palm trees on the other end of the desert and decided to visit that beautiful oasis.

Now he was just like all of us. He believed in hard work, action and enjoying the fruits once he’s done with the hard work. So he decided to move to take up the journey one morning, and decided he will not stop anywhere in between, walk up to the oasis, and once he reaches there, he would gladly drink the cool water of the lake, quench his thirst and then enjoy the beautiful panorama. And that’s what he did, but is it hard to imagine his state when he made to the oasis. He was already out of energy, exhausted, thirsty and of course irritated with the troubles on the way. There was nothing left in him that could enjoy the beauty of oasis even after quenching his thirst, because he had to return before the sun sets.

Do not look at this man as a fictitious character, he is in fact the representative of the current state of entire humanity. We all want to be there, and then enjoy, and when we get there, we have another place to go.

There was another man who knew what he really needed and so he carried some water with him before he began the journey. For this man, he was not stressed with the goal of reaching somewhere urgently, he already had what he needed, so for this man, moving through the desert was a different experience. He was able to pay attention to beautiful landscapes formed by the sand, he could appreciate the beauty of the celestial canvas with some clouds scattered here and there. There was no hurry to reach anywhere no burden to accomplish anything and this changed the quality of his journey.

So it is like going out in the world not with the intention to feel at home in some future moment, but feel home right here, right now and then going out in the world to get everything you want.
