The outer and the inner worlds A False Equation
The Secret of Inner World

The problem is that somehow we have learned an equation about life that when we want something it means to go out, to act, to do something about it, which is not the way in the inner world. The inner dimension of life has a different set of rules. The inner is different, in the sense that you cannot attain anything in the inner dimension of life, they just happen to you. Peace, happiness, joy, love, satisfaction and all the related feelings belong to the inner world. Anything in the inner world cannot be made into a goal to be achieved. You cannot make a goal of having peace or getting in love or attaining happiness. But that’s what everybody does, and they never find what they are searching in the inner world. It is not wrong to look forward to be in peace or love or satisfaction, what is wrong is to search them.

It is absolutely normal to desire a good job and peace of mind at the same time. However, searching peace of mind through a good job is the problem. There is nothing wrong in a desire to possess the best car or huge villa or the top most position in organization, however, searching happiness though them is. To wish for peace or satisfaction through a job or money is like wishing to make a goal in soccer by your hands – it’s a foul, you lose the game.

I am not at peace because I don’t have a job, I am unhappy about the relationship, I want freedom through money – these phrases are like saying I am taking a shower because I am hungry. Yes it does sound stupid and that’s what it is. There is no connection between the things of the outer world and the inner world. If your needs in the outer world are not fulfilled than you might have discomfort, but that’s it, just discomfort, it has nothing to do with happiness or peace.

May be conditioning and probably our ignorance of two different levels of life, we make the achievement in the outer world a cause of something in our inner world. But now that we know the error, we can also change it.
